Poste98: Dobol Trobol

To celebrate Poste98’s 2nd anniversary, we decided to put up a skateboarding competition free (but limited) for everyone who wanted to join in. With various obstacles borrowed from the skateboarding community, we were able to set up a mini skatepark for skaters to enjoy!

Thank you so much Aloha Boardsports and Fluidsurf for supporting the event all the way!

We would also like to thank Skate of the Nation, The Greenery, Steeze Clothing Company, Malachi Skateboarding, Big H Skate Co., KG Clothing, and The Giant Halfpipe Steezshirts for making the event possible!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who celebrated with us on our special day!

Pat & Don

Poste98 was barely a few months old when we first met Fatima Estacio and Don Zeus Salvador. At the time, Fatima had to go to Manila for her studies, and the ever-supportive Don decided to tag along. They were inseparable.

The couple came all the way from Catarman, Samar. I remember being excited to meet them because they were Warays like myself and back then I’ve never met a Waray skater. Pat and Don told us of how there were only 10 skaters in their area, and that they called themselves the Northern Samar Longboarding or NSLB for short. The lack of skate shops near Samar made it almost impossible to get their hands on skateboard parts. Fortunately, one of their crew members, Scud Tagros, was situated in Manila. Through him, the rest of the crew was able to buy parts from the skate shops around the Metro, and online too.

From then on, our lives were easily sewn together. We found ourselves skating with them everytime they were in Metro Manila, and our friendship only grew stronger.

Late last year, Pat and Don decided to tie the knot. They invited us to their wedding ceremonies which I missed because I was in Australia to visit my brother. I envied the Poste98 team members who made it to Pat and Don’s biggest day as a couple. I only heard stories about their beach wedding, their skate spots, and their families when I got back and totally knew that I missed out big time.

Luckily, the team’s visit to Northern Samar was also centered on covering their nuptials. I would say that it is one of Poste98’s most treasured videos because we got to put Pat and Don’s most special day on film.

Watch the video which is 40% skate, 60% Pat and Don, and 100% love.
