This is the third and final episode of the OMEN Southern Comfort Tour. This is the culminating episode and it focuses primarily on the King of Kona event that was held in Jacksonville, Florida. The King of Kona is unlike any event in downhill skating for a few obvious reasons. 1 it is held at a skatepark. 2 it is held in a town with almost no real hills. But that doesn’t stop this from being one of our favorite events of all time.
What makes the King of Kona so special is the level of community that you get to experience. With camping in the skatepark it means that you never have to leave the location, and for us that is what we did. We spent 3 days skating the awesome snake run, shooting off fireworks and watching some amazing skating go down.
At nights we watch the Venom Eat Shit movie, ate huge amounts of pizza, and played dizzy bat into the weee hours of the morning. The days were filled with skateboarding, skateboarding, kona hot dogs, and more skateboarding. It was everything that you would be looking forward to in an event and we had a great time while we were there.
